GameBase Amiga by Belgarath

Introduction [^]

This is the GameBase Amiga project. GameBase Amiga is a collection of data and scripts to be used with the GameBase emulator frontend. It allows you to browse games with screenshots and a lot of extra information and run them with the WinUAE Amiga emulator with ideal pre-defined settings for a hassle free playing experience.

Please note: This project is not affiliated with the GamebaseAMY project (GameBaseAMY website defunct; archived version available at the Internet Archive).

Refer to the GameBase Homepage for information on general GameBase features. GameBase Amiga offers the following:

Great care has been taken in choosing the ideal version of each configured game.
Cracked and/or trained versions have been preferred for your convenience (you don't have to enable the trainers of course if you prefer to play fair).
Each configuration has been tested extensively to avoid games crashing halfway while playing.
Screenshots have been created specifically for GameBase Amiga and it has been made sure that they display different parts of each game so you can get a good impression and not just many similar screenshots from the first level of a game.

Due to lack of manuals, code wheels and the like, not all SPS games could be configured and tested to the same standards as the .adf games in GameBase Amiga. They are quite likely to work well though.
Playing WHDLoad games is possible using KillerGorilla's excellent WHDLoad packs.

2011-11-08: Old website mostly restored (some files are still missing)
2008-06-29: GameBase Amiga v1.6 released
- Now supports over 2700 ADF games, and over 3650 games are now playable in total in at least one format
- Includes a new view to find all games that are playable in at least one format (ADF, SPS and/or WHDLoad)

2007-12-31: GameBase Amiga v1.5 released
- Over 150 new ADF games supported and over 750 new WHDLoad games (plus some updates) from KG's latest WHDLoad packs

2007-07-09: GameBase Amiga v1.4.3 released (small update release)
- About 100 new ADF games supported and 100 new WHDLoad games (plus some updates) from KG's latest WHDLoad pack
- About 50 new tunes along with some new MOD replayers by the Wanted Team and a couple of new hints and instructions
2007-05-27: GameBase Amiga Wiki opened and work on better documentation started
2007-05-20: GameBase Amiga v1.4 released (now with support for KillerGorilla's WHDLoad packs!)
- Added information about WHDLoad requirements
- There are now only Update v1.3 to v1.4 and Complete v1.4 downloads of all files in the file archive
2006-12-24: Merry Christmas to everybody and Happy Birthday GameBase Amiga

Note about screenshots: Screenshots are called Pictures in GameBase, Photos are for actual photographs of music artists and not used in GameBase Amiga

Last minute note: If you use WinUAE's quicksave feature with slot 0 (shift+end+numpad0), GameBase Amiga will automatically load your previous game state next time you start the same game. Please note this will only work correctly if you haven't manually saved a state before in the same session.

Requirements [<]

These are additional requirements for GameBase Amiga versions v1.1 and higher:

WinUAE Version 1.1 or greater (note: only official releases are supported)

These are the requirements for all GameBase Amiga versions to date (v1.0 and higher):

A Windows PC compatible with GameBase 1.1 and WinUAE 1.x and fast enough to play Amiga games with WinUAE
GameBase Version 1.1 or greater
WinUAE Version 1.0 or greater (note: only official releases are supported)
Amiga Kickstart ROM files (not available from here for legal reasons):
- Kickstart v1.2 r33.180 (1986)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000)[!]

Recommended [<]

The following things are recommended for an ideal GameBase Amiga experience.

A light-weight image viewer (like XnView or IrfanView) associated with .gif, .jpg and .png files (GameBase will open image files with the default Windows application)
DeliPlayer for music support
A WHDLoad registration key to remove the nag screen when WHDLoad starts; Find out how to buy one at the WHDLoad Support Page
Again, please do not use pirated WHDLoad keys; WHDLoad is more than worth its low price!

Known Bugs [<]

Especially long paths (for Games or Screenshots for example) or possibly paths with special characters might make GameBase crash.
GameBase Amiga v1.1 may report a missing file "Indoor_Sports.png", simply locate the file "indoor_sports_001.png" and rename it to "Indoor_Sports.png".
The filename for the game Rallye Master in the last database (v1.0) is wrong ("Brands Hatch (1988)(Diamond).zip" rather than "Rallye Master.zip"). You can change the entry manually by right clicking the game's name in GameBase and selecting "Game File...", or update to GameBase Amiga v1.1.
